    the story

Woven bamboo is an ideal flooring material, with exotic good looks and exceptional durability. And now, Ecohaus has woven-bamboo flooring in click-together planks that you can install yourself, anywhere you like.

Bamboo is a tough tropical grass that can be harvested every 5 to 6 years without destroying the original plant. It's durable, stable, and it has exceptional pliability that allows it to sustain blunt impacts without denting or bending. High-quality bamboo is considerably harder than popular hardwoods such as white oak and maple. Because bamboo grows in tropical regions, it has a natural resistance to water. It’s naturally termite-proof and hypoallergenic.

The style of flooring known as woven bamboo is produced from long, thin strands of bamboo pressed together with an environmentally safe resin under extreme pressure. The result is a strikingly beautiful material that’s exceptionally tough, due to the density of the compressed fibers. Twice as hard as Red Oak, woven bamboo is one of the most durable flooring materials you can buy.

    performance

Dansk uses Uniclic, a patented tongue-and-groove joint system milled into the flooring boards, that allows the boards to click together and remain in place once they’re connected. The result is a “floating” floor that doesn’t need to be nailed or glued to a subfloor.

The structural toughness of bamboo is magnified by the superior 10 coat Klumpp coating system. This anti-scratch finish utilizes the latest scratch resistant technology with a co-polymer primer.

You can’t assume that the flooring you buy is "green" just because it's bamboo. Many companies use finishes and adhesives that create off-gassing problems. Bamboo Fusion is made with a low-emission resin, and pre-finished with a solvent-free protective coating. It will not emit VOCs that can contribute to global warming and health-damaging indoor air pollution. It qualifies for Indoor Environmental Quality LEED credit in the Low Emitting Materials category.

    on the planet

Bamboo grows more than a foot a day with minimal fertilization or pesticides. While a tree can take 60 years or more to mature, bamboo can be harvested every 5 to 6 years without being replanted. One bamboo culm can produce 200 poles in its lifetime.

In addition to relieving pressure on hardwood forests, bamboo can help to reduce atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide, the main contributor to climate change. Because it grows so fast, bamboo removes more CO2 from the atmosphere over any given period than a timber forest. A leafy bamboo canopy releases 35 percent more oxygen than a comparable cluster of hardwood trees.

The production of Bamboo Fusion creates virtually no pollution or waste. Nearly 100% of every bamboo pole is used in the manufacturing process, and the limited amount of waste is used for power generation and by other industries.

    LEED Qualifications:

    • IEQ 4.4 - Low Emitting Materials

    where can i use it?

Woven bamboo is so tough that it can be used in high-traffic areas, including commercial settings. The patented glueless "click" system allows the floor to be installed almost anywhere – even in basements and over radiant heat. Cross-ply construction ensures that the flooring remains flat, strong and stable. With a recommended underlayment, a Bamboo Fusion floor will provide insulation against noise. Floating floors are not recommended for use in very moist areas such as the bathroom.

This floor can be installed over most Hydronic in-floor radiant heated floors.

    how much do i need?

Dimensions: 12mm thick; 5 inches wide; random lengths (2, 4 or 6 feet)
    Boxes contain 15.178 sq. feet.

    how do i maintain it?

EcoTimber is treated with a scratch resistant finish. To reduce the likelihood and frequency of scratches we recommend the following tips:

    • Felt padding should be permanently affixed to the legs of all furniture before it is moved into the space.
    • Do not allow people to wear spiked heels on the floor, which will severely damage even the hardest wood floors and finishes.
    • Pet claws should be properly trimmed at all times.
    • Work boots and shoes that may have pebbles lodged in the soles should be removed prior to entering.
    • Use area rugs to protect floor and rearrange them periodically for even aging of the flooring.
    • Regularly vacuum, or sweep, surface to keep dirt and dust off.

Water and hardwood floors don’t mix. Never wet-mop your floor, and always clean up spills and standing water as soon as possible. With water or any other cleaning agent, be sure to thoroughly ring out the applicator or mop prior to applying it to the floor. A damp mop is fine as long as the moisture is limited to an amount that will evaporate almost immediately. Moisture that is allowed to seep into the seams between the planks may cause damage to your flooring. Do not allow soiled mats or rugs to stay on the floor as they can trap moisture on the surface.

Vinegar mixed with water (applied with a slightly damp mop – never wet-mop) is also effective at removing scuffs, dried spills, and dust film can also use vinegar & water or mild detergents can also use vinegar & water or mild detergents. Floor waxes, oil soaps, and petroleum-based cleaners should not be used under any circumstances.
