Safecoat Naturals are suitable for any interior non-contact surfaces such as new or existing, properly primed interior walls and ceilings, properly cured and primed plaster (below 10 pH), masonry, woodwork and primed metal.
Safecoat Naturals Flat paint is suitable for any of the above surfaces where a finish with no sheen is desired.
Safecoat Naturals Pearl paint is a good choice for of the above surfaces where a low-sheen is desired. Low-gloss, low sheen finishes are often chosen for areas where you want a finish that is easier to wipe clean and often in more formal room settings.
The Pearl Finish leaves a low-gloss sheen on the surface – a level between what would typically be seen as “flat” and “eggshell.”
Please note that, as is true with all paints, accent tint bases (very, very dark colors) may not perform well in high humidity environments (e.g., bathrooms w/ poor ventilation).

Preparation
Careful surface preparation is the most important part of painting. Surfaces should be sound and free of dirt, grease, or wax.
Previously painted surfaces in poor condition should be scraped, sanded smooth, and primed. CAUTION. When scraping or sanding old walls lead may be present and can pose serious health risks. To learn about proper precautions, please visit The Environmental Protection Agency. If the existing paint is in good shape and not stained you may paint directly onto the wall after the wall has been wiped down with a mild cleaner. Remember, a shiny paint will stick to a duller paint, but a dull paint will not stick to shiny paint. If you have a glossy wall you may need to lightly scuff-sand it.
Porous walls such as new drywall or plaster should be primed with a drywall primer prior to application of paint. If you are painting over an extremely dark color with a light color you may also want to prime first for better hide.
Application
Environmental conditions are crucial: As with any paint, if the air is too hot or too cold, this product will not cure properly. If the air or the surface is too dry, or there is too much moisture in or on the surface, other problems may result. Apply this product when the temperature in the space is not below 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Apply without thinning using a premium quality brush, roller, pad, or sprayer. For best results, work on one area at a time and paint from a dry area into the adjoining wet paint area.
One coat of Safecoat Naturals paint over one coat of primer is sufficient for most applications. Additional maintenance coats can be applied as necessary.
Drying
Under normal conditions, allow the paint to dry for four hours. If a second coat is desired, let the paint cure for 8 hours before applying it. Normal conditions include a dry surface, access to fresh air flow, moderate humidity and normal room temperature. Thick application, high humidity or conditions other than normal will cause a longer dry and cure time.
Clean up
Clean tools as and equipment with warm soapy water, and keep a damp cloth handy to wipe up spills as they occur.
Storage
Unlike conventional products, Safecoat Naturals are made without chemical preservatives. Store in airtight containers. Do not contaminate. If you paint directly from the can, use a moldy brush, mix in unused material or even sneeze into the can, organisms may grow.
