the story
Fuez has a look that is both modern yet classic. The material offers a look similar to granite or marble but made predominantly with recycled materials.
Fuez combines cement, fly ash, and recycled glass, creating a sustainable countertop material that meets LEED certification. FuezGlass and MicroFuez contain 55-65% Recycled Glass (predominantly from curb-side Seattle residences), 20-25% Low-Carbon Cement, 6-10% Recycled Fly Ash (post-industrial content from Oregon).
Fuez countertops can be custom made to order, and is available in slabs that range from 57 square feet to 4”x 4” tiles. Fuez manufactures the following standard slab sizes:
- 33” x 130” (common kitchen countertop size)
- 25” x 50” (standard bathroom vanity size)
- 66” x 130”
- 72” x 130”
performance
Fuez countertops are extremely durable, up to 1300 psi (stronger then marble). Fuez products do not fade with UV exposure, and are scratch and heat resistant. The Fuez sealer generally lasts for 5 years before reapplication is recommended.
Due to the density of Fuez and the factory-applied sealer, Fuez is stain resistant up to 20 hours. Daily maintenance should include a water-based low-ph cleaner to keep countertops clean. While Fuez materials are heat resistant, it is always recommended to use a trivet or hot pad between countertop and cookware to protect the sealer.
