the story
This is the perfect paint for people who love the dappled, richly textured look of old plaster but find themselves surrounded instead by flat drywall.
We sell it as a bulk powder, made according to a recipe that's been around since the time of the ancient Egyptians. As you need it, you mix it with water and whichever tints you want from our extensive selection of Ochres and Oxides color pigments. Artists love using this paint with these pigments because it gives them freedom to make an endlessly variable range of pastels. When small batches are intermixed and sponged on, walls emerge with the handmade look of aged plaster.

This paint can be used over wood, drywall or wallpaper, as well as on furniture. It dries to a very flat finish, however, so smudges show. For woodwork and other surfaces likely to be handled, we recommend topping with any of our clear wood finishes, such as Safecoat Polyureseal BP or Safecoat Acrylacq (for those who want a fast-drying, synthetic finish) or OSMO Hardwax Oil (for those who want a more natural, plant-based finish). Or, for a natural finish free of VOCs, use BioShield Wall Glaze, perhaps mixing in one of the Ochres and Oxides color pigments to add sparkle at the same time.
When mixed, this product will spoil. Keep it in the refrigerator (don't freeze). If the paint smells like spoiled milk, it's gone bad.
