This product is recommended for professional application only

    performance

OSMO Polyx Professional Color Oil offers exceptional consistency and durability without raising the grain of the wood as water-based stains can. Once dried, the stain color is uniform with barely any lap marks.

It will never crack, blister or flake off. Instead of forming a plastic film, like polyurethane does, OSMO Polyx Professional Color Oil has open pores that "breathe." This allows any moisture that does get through to get back out again without pushing off the stain.

OSMO Polyx Professional Color Oil, due to its pigment content, is effective at providing protection against UV light.

    where can i use it?

OSMO Professional Color Oil a stain for wood and cork floors and is compatible with our favorite finish, OSMO Polyx Hard Wax Oil [link]. It is also suitable for furniture, wood trim, and cabinets.

OSMO Professional Color Oil should only be applied over bare wood that is flat and level. Uneven flooring can result in uneven staining.

This product is not recommended for use with closed-grain woods such as maple, bamboo, or tropical wood species.

Designed for professional application. For interior use only.

    how much do i need?

One liter of OSMO Professional Color Oil covers 600 square feet on average. This rate can vary from 550 to 650 square feet depending on the type of wood.

    .7 cups will cover a 10’ x 10’ area (100 square feet), and .25 cups (1/4 cup) will cover a 6’ x 6’ area.

OSMO Professional Color Oil is a one coat stain.

how do i install or apply it?

This product is strongly recommended for professional application.

    • Sand no finer than 120 grit, or 100 grit for very hard woods.
    • Remove all sanding dust, grease, dirt or other contaminants prior to application with a tack cloth or a rag with a brush cleaner.
    • There are 2 basic application steps for floors:
    1. Spread the product use the OSMO professional scraper
Tips: Measure out the amount of product to apply in a given space using the stated coverage rate.
Spread about ¼ cup of product over an area of about 6’x6’ in size and then work this in with the buffer and the white pad.
Employing a figure-8 motion with the scraper is helpful in spreading the stain.
When starting a new area, pour some product onto the floor in the middle of the area to be worked on. Then blend the product back into areas that have already been completed.
    2. Drive the product into the wood grain using a circular or elliptical buffer affixed with a white abrasive pad. Use a cotton cloth to wipe up any excess drips, spray or puddles.
      • Steps for furniture, cabinets and trim:
      1. Spread the product with a cloth or small scraper
      2. Drive the product into the wood grain using a white abrasive pad (either manually or using a hand sander). Use a cloth to wipe up any excess drips, spray or puddles.

      • While screening after application is not required, some professionals prefer to buff the floor with a red or maroon pad after the stain is dry.

Wait 24 hours before applying a finish. Premature application of finish can cause the stain to liquefy.

      how do i maintain it?

This product is a stain and not a finish and needs to be covered with a finish such as Polyx-oil to protect the wood.

Any stain generally reduces the spot reparability of the wood because color matching with reapplications is more difficult.
